I captured this just before Christmas at our local Manhattan Beach Pier, during a sunset so vivid I had to stay until the bitter end — no matter how cold my feet got. The sky was purple, pink, and molten gold, and as the tide pulled back, the wet sand turned to glass, stretching that light across the beach.
