This piece was a labor of love for a wonderful couple I’ve known for years. Heather and Steve have a beautiful boat they love to spend time on, and they asked me to create something meaningful using my Photomosaic style. I photographed them sailing past me multiple times, capturing a series of images of their boat in motion. One of those original photographs became the foundation of the piece. From there, I created the overall design and used a dye-sublimation process to transfer the image onto ceramic tiles, one by one. Each tile was then cemented onto a backboard. To bring the piece fully into their world, I used fabric washed repeatedly until it softened into a seafoam-green tone, creating a mat that echoed the feel of the sea. The finished work is framed as a single statement piece and now hangs in their living room as a central focal point—reflecting both their story and their life at sea.
Photomosaic design 46 x 42 inches framed.
