I was commissioned by Petros Restaurant in Manhattan Beach, CA to create a Greek-themed piece for the entry way of the restaurant. Petros envisioned a masculine work that captured the spirit of the Spartan wars. I photographed a Spartan warrior’s steel helmet crowned with blaring red horsehair and built on repetition of the image to create a dramatic presence for the space. The piece incorporates C.P. Kavafis’ poem “The Odyssey”. As it is of particular significance to Petros.
Photomosaic - photographs on board, burnt paper, resin, wood frame.
42 x 34 inches
